Hi this is a bit less of a darker question than what I asked about a toxic family member. I wanted to ask, how’s the best way to be comfortable with one’s pronouns? I mean this for myself, as I go by they/them. I just believe that in my town, it would be a lot harder to be able to correct someone, especially with all the anti-trans legislation that’s going on right now.

Ello! I wanted to ask about the best way to deal with toxic behavior. I’m not a minor, but I’m still trying to get through college, and as much as I don’t want to have a relationship with the father that has scarred me so much, it would be nice to have some advice about to just be calm when talking with him. (Also him being abusive it’s like walking on eggshells with him.)

And do you see different reactions or replies based on platform? Is it a different audience?

I'm lucky enough to have a fairly non-religious family (at least the parts of it my parents and I talk to), which means I don't know what it's like to grow up being gay in a conservative church. I'm also usually the 'therapist friend' for most of my gay friends because I can understand what they're going through for the most part, but that's one think I don't understand. And also I feel I should try to understand as many struggles (and also successes? Idk what to call that) because it will help me to make sure I don't become the oppressor by accident. So is there anything you can explain that might help me (and whoever else might want to know) to understand? Or is there anything often overloaded because it's something that people think everyone knows so it's not talked about? I'll probably never be able to fully understand as I have never actually experienced being in that situation, but I want to try to understand and learn as much as I can.
