During pregnancy some of the skin changes we see can include increased dryness, more noticeable brown spots or hyperpigmentation, and in some people worsening acne.&nbsp;
When it comes to a basic skincare routine, I recommend using a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

If you&rsquo;re dealing with dry skin, I recommend using thicker moisturizers like creams, as opposed to lightweight gels or lotions. And stick with hydrating or cream based cleansers as opposed to foaming or gel-based cleansers.
&nbsp;
If you are dealing with worsening hyperpigmentation, like I am. I recommend incorporating a vitamin C serum in the morning. You can also incorporate gentle exfoliating acids. If you&rsquo;re using glycolic acid, keep it under 10%. While retinols or prescription retinoids, like tretinoin, can help, these are not recommended during pregnancy.

If you are dealing with acne, safe ingredients include azelaic acid, niacinamide, glycolic acid under 10%, and I&rsquo;m also a huge fan of the hydrocolloid pimple patches. I would avoid retinols or prescription retinoids. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid can be used in limited amounts.
If you want to work on anti-aging during pregnancy, I recommend incorporating an antioxidant serum, like a vitamin C serum in the morning followed by sunscreen. In the evening I recommend using a product with bakuchiol, which is thought to be a retinol alternative when it comes to treating wrinkles. Incorporating gentle exfoliating alpha hydroxy acids can also help with skin renewal and collagen production.
