The first step before shaving is to steam your face whether it's in the shower or over the sink. This helps soften the skin around your pores or your hair follicles. Then use an exfoliating cleanser. I like the Glyderm gentle cleanser or SkinMedica AHA/BHA cleanser. I recommend using a moisturizing shaving gel made for sensitive skin. I recommend the Aveeno Therapeutic Shave gel.&nbsp;

When shaving, make sure you shave with the grain (meaning your razor blade is traveling in the same direction the hair is growing).&nbsp;
&nbsp;
I would also use a product regularly at night to help keep the pores clear with glycolic acid like First AId Beauty Ingrown hair pads or a retinoid, like adapalene. If you deal with razor burns then you can use a hydrocortisone cream afterwards.

Remember to store your razor in a dry and cool place to prevent it from rusting as well as from bacterial growth.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
I recommend replacing your razor every 2-3 weeks or every 7-10 shaves &mdash; whichever one is sooner. If your hair is thicker, you may need to lean more towards doing it more often.
