Hey Ben, I’m a student from Australia (quite far away), and I’m in my final semester. I was hoping to score a graduate role as a software engineer, but I was unable to get one. However, I did get an offer from a big 4 consulting firm (Deloitte) for a role that works using things like Microsoft dynamics and Salesforce development. I’m also doing an internship at a very early AI startup. I don’t think consulting will be for me, so I was planning to transition within the company once I gained some reputation and connections there. I’m turning 20 at the end of the year, so I’m aware I do have a bit more time to explore my options, but I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this. As a side note, how do your bicep veins manage to show in every video I see of you in a tank top 🧐

I am Algerian student ( algeria is a third world country located in north Africa ) who is passionate about computer science. I am currently pursuing a second year student in petroleum engineering (PE) major in university of boumerdas (University of boumerdas: 1501+ ranked in the world based on times higher education ) Most of the Algerians who wants to study abroad need to get a master degree in their university ( which is the equivalent of bachlore degree in uk, canada, usa, ... ) that is going to take 5 years. After that they will try to find a program in western ( probably uk, canada) to continue their master. + you might ask : why they don't study bachlore in uk for example? Because it is more expensive. they are going to pay for 3 years, instead of paying for 1 year of master. Question: I told in the first paragraph that i am stuck and i am studying petroleum engineering. I have two plans to study abroad Plan 01: 1. Declare an academic vacation (which does mean i will stop studying at the uni | it does not mean i am going to drop off) 2. Study for baccalaureate and get high score 3. Get into National School of computer science ( which is one of the best school in Algeria | it is ranked 8864 of 14,131 in the world. ) 4. Try to get internships, hackathon,... to improve my cv Plan 02: 1. Continue studying petroleum engineering 2. Learning full stack and work as freelancer 3. Invest the money into online bsc computer science degree | university of London 4. Study both degree 5. Now you can find programs of msc computer science without a cs background ( online might not be creadible) or even with cs background. So, what should i choose ? Plan 1 or 2 ? .

Hey Ben, I'm a SE student living in Istanbul, Turkey. I'm currently in my junior year and I've been trying to apply to several internships for a React frontend web dev intern, none of which I've even got a response from. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, I don't have any work experience but I have several projects like a Todo list, Tic Tac Toe, and a responsive web design, all built with React. My Tech stack is as follows: React, js, HTML, CSS, SQL, Java, Git, Github I have a pretty well-designed resume too, so what am I missing here?

Hey, I feel as though I lack experience in the technical side of CS. I go to a community college and am on my sophomore year right now and plan to transfer to uni soon, I want to be able to apply to internships and gain some experience but I feel like I’m outclassed severely as I haven’t taken a single computer course yet as I pushed it to the side until recently to make room for the amount of maths I need. Is there any resource I can use or websites to follow on? I try to learn on my own but my 5 classes get in the way of it right now.
