Hope this meets you well (i might need advice)

Hello ben, I've been following your Instagram for the past few months now, and all I can say is you're an inspiration so far. I go to babcock University, where I study software engineering and like you too. I'm 100% a gymbro, and I'm trying to make putting school, preparing for an internship in January, a social life , and gym all together. You're probably thinking it's not possible, and the truth is you're right. I have no clue what I'm doing. I don't know if you read these messages, and I can't message you after this because of Instagram's new setting if you ever see this I hope to receive insights on how you think might be best for me too move. I know you work with meta, meaning you're always busy, but if you have time, I hope we can talk. Have a nice weekend Timi_the_brogrammer

Starting out my career

Hey Ben, I’m a student from Australia (quite far away), and I’m in my final semester. I was hoping to score a graduate role as a software engineer, but I was unable to get one. However, I did get an offer from a big 4 consulting firm (Deloitte) for a role that works using things like Microsoft dynamics and Salesforce development. I’m also doing an internship at a very early AI startup. I don’t think consulting will be for me, so I was planning to transition within the company once I gained some reputation and connections there. I’m turning 20 at the end of the year, so I’m aware I do have a bit more time to explore my options, but I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this. As a side note, how do your bicep veins manage to show in every video I see of you in a tank top 🧐

Paths for Studying Computer science abroad

I am Algerian student ( algeria is a third world country located in north Africa ) who is passionate about computer science. I am currently pursuing a second year student in petroleum engineering (PE) major in university of boumerdas (University of boumerdas: 1501+ ranked in the world based on times higher education ) Most of the Algerians who wants to study abroad need to get a master degree in their university ( which is the equivalent of bachlore degree in uk, canada, usa, ... ) that is going to take 5 years. After that they will try to find a program in western ( probably uk, canada) to continue their master. + you might ask : why they don't study bachlore in uk for example? Because it is more expensive. they are going to pay for 3 years, instead of paying for 1 year of master. Question: I told in the first paragraph that i am stuck and i am studying petroleum engineering. I have two plans to study abroad Plan 01: 1. Declare an academic vacation (which does mean i will stop studying at the uni | it does not mean i am going to drop off) 2. Study for baccalaureate and get high score 3. Get into National School of computer science ( which is one of the best school in Algeria | it is ranked 8864 of 14,131 in the world. ) 4. Try to get internships, hackathon,... to improve my cv Plan 02: 1. Continue studying petroleum engineering 2. Learning full stack and work as freelancer 3. Invest the money into online bsc computer science degree | university of London 4. Study both degree 5. Now you can find programs of msc computer science without a cs background ( online might not be creadible) or even with cs background. So, what should i choose ? Plan 1 or 2 ? .

Applying to internships

Hey Ben, I'm a SE student living in Istanbul, Turkey. I'm currently in my junior year and I've been trying to apply to several internships for a React frontend web dev intern, none of which I've even got a response from. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, I don't have any work experience but I have several projects like a Todo list, Tic Tac Toe, and a responsive web design, all built with React. My Tech stack is as follows: React, js, HTML, CSS, SQL, Java, Git, Github I have a pretty well-designed resume too, so what am I missing here?

How to gain experience

Hey, I feel as though I lack experience in the technical side of CS. I go to a community college and am on my sophomore year right now and plan to transfer to uni soon, I want to be able to apply to internships and gain some experience but I feel like I’m outclassed severely as I haven’t taken a single computer course yet as I pushed it to the side until recently to make room for the amount of maths I need. Is there any resource I can use or websites to follow on? I try to learn on my own but my 5 classes get in the way of it right now.

Ben you can surely make more sales

Hey Ben, I'm reaching out because I came across your page and it seemed interesting. I analysed your business and instantly thought that there may be a way or two that you may be losing some money, and I thought I could help out.  My name's Ali Qadiri , I'm a direct response copywriter for email marketing . I write emails for companies that turn one time customers into 2x, 3x, 10x customers.  I noticed your email isn’t very compelling and it could do with some human persuasion and more attention grabbing work for sure. These emails typically convert 3-5x higher than bottom page forms. With them sequence emails on your list for, customers to read that could be the difference of an extra few thousand dollars per month. Once you have their email, it's important to send the right kind of emails to convert opens into sales. By sending out a few emails a week that customers want to read, with interesting storytelling and headlines that catch their attention, this could undoubtedly be your most profitable avenue of marketing.  Your business is exactly the kind of business I look for as a client (fast growing, audience I'm familiar with, genuine founder, etc. I would love to talk with you about how a few solid email sequences could net you thousands more dollars a month. I'd even be willing to send you a sample email that you could send out to your list that would make you money.  Let me know if any of this sounds interesting to you. Thanks for reading.

Seeking Advice for My Software Engineering Career

Hi Ben, I hope you're doing well. I'm reaching out for some advice as I'm at a crucial point in my career. I've been working as a software engineer at a startup for over seven months, and I'm about to start college to pursue a software engineering degree (currently a senior in highschool, graduate in 2024). Additionally I will have taken enough dual enrollment classes to completely eliminate my first year. Given your experience, I'd appreciate any insights you can offer on how to make the most of this journey and what areas of software engineering are promising. Thanks for your help! Best regards, David

Comparing Interview Prep

I've started my internship search and it's just Sept so it's still in the initial stages. I've prepared upto 60ish%. Nothing is completely new to me, but I have a lot of practice to do to reach the point where I can see patterns quickly. But I'm quite demotivated seeing my peers. Some are behind, many are ahead. Just breezing through the OAs. And it makes me feel like.. is it too late? I'm planning on grinding LC for the next 3 months and hopefully crack it by Dec-Jan. So my question is, how would you handle this mental block? Seeing your peers just a lot more solid on LC and feeling like.. What if I fail? I would really love your insight!

Apply early or later with referral

Is it better to apply early or apply later but with a referral? I see positions opening for new grad but I’m scared to apply regularly since I’ve been rejected by mid tier companies despite interning at a major company. If I see an opening, I try to go on LinkedIn and ask for referrals but that’s taking a few days.

What other majors would you recommend so that I can still become a software engineer. I’ve been looking at computer engineering, data science, informatics, and many of the big engineering majors. Resume - Detail or Breadth

I'm a college sophomore who is looking to apply for SWE/SDE internship roles this summer, and I'm uncertain about my 1-Page Resumes. I have 2 versions: one of which describes past experiences in detailed bullet points underneath, and another which has a bunch of bullet points that discuss my various experiences nominally but also go over more of my qualifications, honors, and clubs that I received/participated in high school. Which version should I use?
