How can I recover from this? What can I do to focus on school more? I struggled with focusing in class, doing homework, and studying after school. How can I improve in these areas?

Hey Baxate! {I'm posting this question for the 3rd time as I have not yet recieved a response from you yet in the past 1 month. I'd really appreciate it if you could give my post a read and advise on my situation. Thank you so much in advance} I'm an incoming Computer Engineering student and I'm facing a huge dilemma about which University to go to. For context, I'm an Asian born who is a permanent resident of Canada. I got in 3 universities for CompE - UIUC, UWaterloo, and U of Toronto. Now, technically, UIUC seems to be the most superior out of them all for CompE and also it's located in the USA - the best country for STEM. Besides, my long term goal has always been to work and settle down in the States as it has the best opportunities in Engineering related jobs. So these points make UIUC my top choice for pursuing a degree in CompE. However, there is one problem. If I do choose to go to the USA, I'd have to forfeit my Canadian Residency status for being out of country for too long - as I'm not a citizen yet. Moreover, I'd also have to pay an extra $100k compared to UofT/UWaterloo as I'll be an international in the States, unlike Canada. But thankfully, money is not that big of an issue and even though it'll be a stretch, my parents can cover it without any loans or debt. My main concern is about losing the Canadian PR. On one hand, I think it won't really matter because I anyways wanna live and work in the States so losing the Canadian status shouldn't be a big deal as even my family is not planning to stay here for long. Besides, UIUC seems like a very prestigious engineering school as I’ve seen people give up Ivy League Unis to study at UIUC Grainger College of Engineering, so I’m not sure if it’d be wise to let go of this opportunity. But on the other hand, I start to worry about the risk in the US post-graduation given how uncertain the H1B lottery system is. If I don't make the lottery, then I would have to return to Asia and I'm not very keen on doing that. Also, if I do end up staying in Canada, I can get the citizenship by the time I graduate and then I can move to the US on a TN visa. It'll definitely be much more difficult to secure a Job in the US from Canada though so I'm not sure how practical this path would be. I'd really appreciate it if you can please help me decide and guide me towards the right path. What should I do - 1) Study CompE at UIUC in the USA and let go of the Canadian residency 2) Study CompE at UWaterloo/UofT in Canada and move to the US on the TN visa once you get your Citizenship.
