Is it necessary that I get a degree in computer science/software engineering to become a software engineer? Or can I achieve the same result by getting a different engineering degree like electrical or mechanical engineering?

Also, what's the difference in the kinds of jobs you can get with a software engineering degree compared to a computer science degree? Do companies make any distinctions between the two?

Also, in general, is it possible to get a job as a software engineer in a different country as to where you got your degree from? For example getting your degree in canada and then working in the United States?
