Hey Bro, I’m in need of some help with deciding my major. I’m currently enrolled at my university as a Civil Engineering major. I wasn’t aware of such a large wage gap that CE had compared to other professions such as Software, CompSci, Electrical, Chemical, etc. I’m currently 23 years old and have all my core STEM classes complete (Calc, Physics, DifE, etc.) and I’m really considering jumping over to Software engineering. Your videos are super inspiring as I myself am a Lebanese Stem major in the Bay Area. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to see what I’d be getting myself into with software engineering? I’ve never coded or ran any softwares before however I’m not unfamiliar with tech. I’m just curious how things like the homework would look , what the jobs would look like , etc. I’m aware it would be a higher level of difficulty compared to CE. Just curious what courses look like and what exactly I’d be doing in my classes or workspace. I know you have a ton of followers and dms so thank you for taking some time to read this if you ever come across it.
I studied business management and got a masters in business analytics. Still looking for my first job. I want to gravitate towards software engineering in the future. What would you recommend to make this happen? I've heard you say college is the only way. I live in Chile, might need to migrate, and I'm willing to.
Hello! Are schools like Rice, UT Austin, and Brown considered Target Schools for SWE roles?
Hey man I just wanted to ask some questions about where to save and invest my money, I’m 17 after I graduate I plan to move to Alaska where I have a job that pays for room and meals and since there is no state tax in Alaska I’ll be making $28 an hour that I almost keep to keep all to my self. I don’t plan on staying there forever but since I’ll have almost no expenses I was wondering where is my money best put. Like a high yield savings account or in an index fund or maybe something I don’t know about? I would like to invest the money I save maybe into real estate or something else that will generate more income for me, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
