Hi Baxate I'm from Lebanon and currently going into my 1st year as a mechanical engineering student in LAU byblos lebanon and I'm planning to do a masters program abroad later on in renewable energy. In order to land a highly paying job in the future abroad and for instance the USA, is the name of the university in which I did my masters what is essential, or is the bachelor diploma a big parameter in the jobs' decision?

Hello Baxate! I’m an upcoming sophomore student at uni and I would like to gain work experience. However, I lived in the US for quite a while and I’m on a dependent visa(non-working visa) rather than a student visa. Hence, I’m not allowed to apply for paid internships. I don’t want to convert into a student visa yet until my 3rd year but do you recommend applying unpaid internship as your first internship? If not, do you recommend any other ways to gain work experience? Thank you for your time to read this!

Hope this message finds you well. I am currently a student at a solid university studying finance and economics. I am on track to obtain an investment banking internship and get a full time offer north of $150k in full compensation. This is a realistic situation based on my circumstances and I am reaching out asking for advice on what you would do as I follow your personal finance advice closely.

To achieve my circumstances, my family and I are depending nearly entirely on student loans. I have a scholarship, but it doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of things ($28k). The student loan will ultimately be around $150k - $200k on the high end. However, this was done intentionally as I knew I could achieve a high paying career like IB.

I am reaching out as I am wondering what you would do if you were in my situation. Imagine you received your software engineering role but were in $200k of student loans. How would you navigate paying this off? Would you prioritize investing with your income level in any manner?

In IB and private equity consequently, the compensation increases dramatically, with $500k being a conservative estimate to make a year by 28 years old. Therefore, I am curious as to if you would pay off the debt as soon as possible or invest the income and then worry about paying off the debt when my income increases significantly.

Two schools of thought.
If the interest rate on your student loans are below what you can get by investing.

<li>The illogical, but good for the mental mindset. Pay off the loans as quickly as possible, not investing at all, just to have the clarity of mind and be debt free. This is probably what I would choose.</li>
<li>Technically, you would get more money by paying the minimum on your student loans and invest the rest. But this leaves the debt lingering around for longer</li>
</ol>
Either way it sounds like you are going to be able to pay it off and intend to so congrats!
