My school recommends that I get a windows laptop for engineering, but it's not a hard requirement for CS. I feel like Mac is the better option by far, but I've heard that there are certain softwares/languages that are hard to run on mac and require a VM. Is this the case, and would it be better to stay away from Mac?

My first question is about my studies: I study statistics and computer science, but in my university, it's not a separate faculty; it's a department within the Science faculty. Do you think this could cause problems for me in the future when it comes to finding a job in the software engineering field? My second question is related to my university's program: Unfortunately, my university doesn't offer software engineering as a specialization.
