Hey Bax, just recently found out I wont be making the software eng cutoff at my school which is my first choice. However, I will be making it into computer eng. What do you suggest I should do to maximize my opportunities becoming a software engineer? Some options include doing a comp sci minor, or transferring to a different university to do software engineering but restarting year one. (Currently im going into sophomore year). P.S I have no passion or goals in working with hardware or the electrical aspect of comp eng

I just finished my first year of CS at college and I hopped on leetcode and am feeling so bad because even some of the easy questions were really hard. During this summer, I am hoping to improve my skills and expand my language knowledge since I only know some C and some Java. I keep seeing content about making side projects but I honestly don't think I have enough skills yet, so instead I'm thinking about taking the Harvard CS50X course, the Google Career Automation of IT using Python course, and an AI Innovators course that is led by an alumn or grad student from MIT or Stanford. Do you think this is a good use of my summer? What other things could I do as well, either in substitute or in addition to what I have planned?
I am a high school counselor and your posts entered my feed- I tell my students many of the things you advise about math, teachers and doing well in college, etc. I love teens and for 30 years I have preached similar messages- some listen now, some later. I love you exist and these platforms allow you to reach so many!!! Your advice may not be super new but it can be that 100th time heard and finally taken! Good luck on this endeavor! It is a true human service- My son is at Morehouse in their engineering program and partnership with GA-Tech. I send him your posts because he absolutely doesn’t take my advice! Thx!!!
