I wanted to go into software engineering but i’m concerned that AI with take away demand for human software engineers. Should I consider other options or do you think that humans will still be needed in the software engineering space?

I am Ekansh and I recently got admitted into Concordia University's Computer Engineering Program, but, honestly I wanted to pursue software engineering, is it still possible for me to become a software engineer?

Is it necessary that I get a degree in computer science/software engineering to become a software engineer? Or can I achieve the same result by getting a different engineering degree like electrical or mechanical engineering? Also, what's the difference in the kinds of jobs you can get with a software engineering degree compared to a computer science degree? Do companies make any distinctions between the two?

Can you please guide us on how one can start his journey of becoming a software engineer without joining college or university. What programs and software he should learn and in what order. A complete pathway!
